Description:
Our client is seeking a Database Administrator to be responsible for the administration of the Oracle database and to monitor the use of software. They are looking for someone who is ok with working 4-12 hour shifts and weekends. The Database Administrator will provide operational and production support, troubleshoot application code, and work on purchase order and accounting applications. The position involves heavy use of Oracle.
Other Job Responsibilities Include:
- Installation and configuration of Oracle database and Veritas 13 monitoring
- Creating and validating procedures for all database processes
- Review current and develop application design, database structures, and routings for data manipulation.
- Develop database recovery utilities for the employee time system environment using RMAN and Netbackup
- Develop and test disaster recovery and failover procedures
Requirements:
- Must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
- Must possess at least 3 years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience using mainframe, mini- or micro-computer technology in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base administration, or planning of data processing. Level of required experience varies with education achieved:
- 3 years experience required if candidate has a Masters Degree in Computer Science
- 4 years experience required if candidate has a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
- 6 years experience required if candidate has a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
- 18 months administrative, managerial, or executive experience in computer applications or systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, data base admin., or planning of data processing.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science from an accredited college preferred.
- Experience with Veritas 13 monitoring a plus.
- 24/7 production coverage required
- Strong knowledge of Cognos/Oracle required
- Weekend implementations mandatory
